Coupon redemption seems to becoming more fashionable as 61% of households with income over $100,000 have redeemed a coupon within the last six months according to a study released by coupons.com

There has been consistent decline in coupon redemption over the past several years until the recession hit.  In 2009 coupon redemption increased 27% with Internet redemption leading the way by growing 263%.

While the study doesn’t specify what the coupons were for let me guess that the majority were for purchases made at a local retailer and therefore confirms so much of the research we’ve seen about the Internet driving consumers into local stores.  The Internet is changing from being the world wide web, to the real local web.
